We know we can’t earn our way to heaven, yet the impact of a servant of Yahweh, doing the right thing is overwhelming. It is obvious as we advance the Kingdom of God that many people are saved. The lughg shines in the dark.
John 14:2-7 AMPC
“In My Father's house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you. And when (if) I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also. And [to the place] where I am going, you know the way. Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me. If you had known Me [had learned to recognize Me], you would also have known My Father. From now on, you know Him and have seen Him.”
When walk out our faith in Christ through the power of His grace, we show Him. People see Him in us. They experience His love and forgiveness. The true witness then becomes what others say about us and not our self-description or what we think.
When we understsnd this then we understand the true advancing of the Kingdom of God. His kingdom advances through us and His righteousness. Think of the impact of a King like Hezekiah described in the 2nd Kings Chapters 18-19.
“Now in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah. He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that David his father had done. He removed the high places, broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, because in those days the children of Israel burned incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan. He trusted in Yahweh, the God of Israel, so that after him was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him. For he joined with Yahweh. He didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Yahweh commanded Moses. Yahweh was with him. Wherever he went, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria, and didn’t serve him.”
2 Kings 18:1-7 WEBUS
What we read here is that due to his obedience everywhere he went he prospered in battle and business. Yet somehow we think that as a son of Yahweh we deserve no problems or trials. We assume that whether we obey of not we will have an easy life. As we read through Chapter 18-19 we see what happens when the ultimate test comes for Hezekiah.
The enemy is used to put our faith in God to the test. Here Hezekiah heard what the enemy said , but instead panicking the king went to Yahweh. Then hd mustered his mighty spiritual team. Isaiah did prophets do.
“When King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house. He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz. They said to him, “Hezekiah says, ‘Today is a day of trouble, of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to deliver them. It may be Yahweh your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’” So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah. Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master this: ‘Yahweh says, “Don’t be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he will hear news, and will return to his own land. I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’””
When we advance the Kingdom we need to get our war and battle plans from our King Yahweh of Armies and we build up the army or train them the same way. Our King Jesus’ orders His Church and advances His Kingdom too. We need to trust Him! Amen?
