“The Veil and the Wall” Dave Bessey

ree

“The curse of the Lord is in and on the house of the wicked, but He declares blessed (joyful and favored with blessings) the home of the just and consistently righteous. [Ps. 37:22; Zech. 5:4; Mal. 2:2.] Though He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, yet He gives His undeserved favor to the low [in rank], the humble, and the afflicted. [James 4:6; I Pet. 5:5.] The wise shall inherit glory (all honor and good) but shame is the highest rank conferred on [self-confident] fools. [Isa. 32:6.]”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭33‬-‭35‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

So many of us feel separated from God. We feel that His Holiness and Righteousness separates us from Him. Shame and guilt control us. “Why would God ever LOVE me and hug me and a filthy sinner,” they say. Yet you forget it is Christ who lives in you now. You no longer are alive. You were crucified with Him. Your sin is gone! His love and grace prevails!

The day Christ was crucified there was a mighty shaking as Christ took His last breath. The earthquake has been estimated at near 9 on the Richter scale. At that moment the veil between the Holiest of Holies or “Presence of Yahweh” was torn from bottom to top. The wall of righteousness was removed that separated the holy from the common. It was no longer a hindrance for us to come to the presence of God, because of the blood of the Lamb that was shed on Calvary. His righteousness was given to us. We are empowered to be His children now. His sons with full inheritance and authority. No longer do we need to run in fear of the enemy. The King has called us sons. When we humble ourselves before Christ, He wins the day. Glory!

James‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭10‬ AMPC

“But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it). [Prov. 3:34.] So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery]. [As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins]. Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬-‭10‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Likewise, you who are younger and of lesser rank, be subject to the elders (the ministers and spiritual guides of the church)–[giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel]. Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)–[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble. [Prov. 3:34.] Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. [Ps. 55:22.] Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset–rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.”

The temple was no longer required, Yahweh will inhabit His people by the Holy Spirit. Christ’s blood blood as the Lamb of God paid in full for our ransom. The atonement complete. It is finished, it is done!
