Christmas Memories

For many years we have enjoyed Christmas around the world. Every culture celebrates slightly different. I remember those warm family gatherings and some cold ones too. I remember stuffed huge enchiladas and braciole (stuffed Italian steak). We were a multi-ethnic family. One year we might have raviolis, another year lasagna or spaghetti. The next enchiladas or tamales. All food surrounded by stuffed turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato caserole with marshmellows, veggies and copious jello salads and fruit salad with whipped cream. As I write this I’m stuffed like that turkey otherwise I’d be getting hungry about now. My point is the holidays have a special set of memories that make us feel warm and cheerful or cold and sad. We can really feel alone even if there are many peeople around us. We must be truly sensitive to others and care enough to be there for people. To call or even better yet go visit. So hang some stockings on the hearth, light up a tree and sing some carols. Go watch a Hall Mark Christmas movie or snuggle up by a fire and drink some mulled cider or hot cocoa. But as I said, REACH out to someone and remember if you need to talk just resch out and Merry Christmas. Reach International Ministries
